About Cell Based Milk
Cell Based Milk is an independent guide to milk made from cells instead of cows. We explain how the technology works, track the companies developing it, and look honestly at the questions people ask about it: taste, nutrition, safety, the environment and price.
We started this site in 2022, when cell-cultured milk was mostly an idea in a handful of labs. Since then, startups have produced whole milk in bioreactors, signed their first deals with dairy companies, and begun preparing for regulatory review. At the same time, at least one state has banned it. It’s a fast-moving story, and most coverage is either industry hype or reflexive dismissal. We aim for something in between: clear, sourced and fair.

How we write and update articles
- We cite our sources. Every article ends with a list of the reports, studies and announcements it relies on, linked so you can check them yourself.
- We separate claims from evidence. When a figure comes from a company press release rather than an independent study, we say so.
- We date what changes. Startup timelines and regulations change quickly. Articles show when they were last updated, and company details note when they were reported.
- We correct mistakes. If you spot an error or something out of date, email us and we’ll fix it.
